Your hen party weekend will be EXCITING. But it's hard to know what to pack. Especially if you are the bride and in the dark about what you will actually be doing. There are many different styles of hen party but to guarantee your weekend goes without a hitch, here are some suggestions from expert Lynsey Hamp Hen parties expert at Hen Heaven who writes our guest blog today.

Hen Heaven's Guide to Packing for Your Hen Party

1. You'll need a great weekend holdall or small travel case:

2. Cover all basics when planning your hen weekend wardrobe- there is a possibility that you will be doing a lively activity during the course of the weekend. There are a lot of great dance classes out there as well as extreme sports; pack some comfortable clothing just in case. I would suggest the following:

pretty vest

Elliot Atkinson vest £50 at www.asos.com

black vest top

Or for a cheaper alternative:

H&M £7.99 www.hm.com

Adidas tracksuit bottoms

Joggers, leggings or combats

Adidas firebird track pant £45 www.asos.com

3. Take two 'going out' outfits with you; there is a small possibility you will not be put in fancy dress, you may just have to wear a sash and veil. So I would dress with this in mind, dresses are a good option as they save on packing too many items.

Also you do want a statement attention-grabbing dress that's says 'I am the hen'. It is your party and you need to feel special. Wearing something that you feel good in will then make you feel amazing and this will be reflected in how you feel during the weekend.

My pick of the best party dresses:

sequin party dress

French Connection sequin dress £160 www.asos.com

gold party dress Lipsy lace dress with metallic print £70 available from www.asos.com

4. Most hen parties do involve a fancy dress theme on one of the nights, so if you are not informed on what the theme is, I suggest taking the following:

    • Strapless bra- your costume might be strapless
    • Black cami & white Cami- just in case your costume is low and you do not feel comfortable
    • Tights- if it is winter and you are not happy baring your legs

Hair pins/hair bands/head band- you might be asked to wear a wig or hat and they can come in very handy

5. Accessories - as you will not be entirely sure of what you will be wearing during the weekend festivities I suggest taking a few handbags; one in black, one neutral and a couple of belts with a selection of jewellery. My pick of the best in store at the moment is:

gold sequin clutch bag

Gold sequin clutch £28.00 www.asos.com

6. Additional essential items to pack should be:

    • Passport- if you are having a hen weekend abroad
    • Make up and toiletries
    • Camera
    • Party feet
    • Headache tablets
    • Bottles of water
