8 Tips on Choosing the Right Wedding Photographer

Choosing the right photographer is one of the most important aspects of your wedding day. This person or people are the ones who will capture the most significant moments of your special day so it is important that you pick a good one.

Here are some tips to think about when choosing the right photographer for your wedding day:

    • When looking for the right photographer, start off by checking out their photos and reviews. Go with photographers who are referred to you. If you are getting married at a reception hall, don't feel pressured to use their vendors, those are usually not the very best so many people end up disappointed. Check the photographer's website, any blogs they may have, and any social media sites.

    • Meet with the photographers in person. This is very important. Meet with more than one potential photographer, so you can compare styles, prices and packages. Meeting the photographer in person will give you a chance to look at more of their work and also see if working with them will be easy to do. Make sure each potential photographer has your wedding date available before you commit to them.
    • Make sure the potential photographer you meet with, will be the same person who will be shooting your wedding. It is necessary the photographer is clear about this as well, because you may think you are getting one person and another person shows up on your wedding day, who has an entirely different style than what you thought you were getting.
    • When interviewing potential photographers, look to see if they actually can do what you want them to do in terms of style and the overall look of your wedding.

    • Make sure you see a variety of images from the photographer(s). Many will show you some of their best photos, ask to see everything you can before settling on a decision. When one of my relatives got married, she saw only the photographer's best work and on her wedding day she received less than the best from the photographer she ended up going with.

    • Don't be afraid to ask to see everything until you are satisfied with the choices. And don't forget to ask as many questions until you are completely satisfied with everything.
    • Make sure their personality works with theirs. This person will be capturing one of the most memorable parts of your life, so make sure you can work with them in getting what you want.
    • Keeping to a budget is imperative. Can you afford the photographer you have chosen? Be clear with what you can and cannot afford. Make sure you are clear about what you want and what you will be getting with the budget you have.

Your wedding photos are an integral part of your wedding day and it is important that both you and your fiancé are happy with the results. In the end, your photographs will be one of the only memories you have to keep of your wedding day, (other than your fiancé of course!)
