When You're a Bridesmaid In Too Many Weddings

When You're a Bridesmaid In Too Many Weddings

We've all been Katherine Heigl's character in the movie "27 Dresses" where we've committed ourselves to being a bridesmaid in multiple weddings in one year.  It gets to a point where instead of being grateful and happy you're part of the wedding, it's more of "Oh gosh, not another wedding!"  But it doesn't necessarily need to feel that way,  there are several things you can do to not feel overwhelmed with the wedding duties that have been bestowed upon you by a close friend or family member.

It's Easy: You can just say "No."  Well, it's not always easy, but you can say no if you feel that you simply cannot commit to being part of someone else's wedding day.  Kindly explain the reason to the bride.  It could be as simple as a scheduling conflict with other weddings and life, or financial reasons.  Either way, you can decline.

Budget Yourself:  There is no need to go overboard in your spending for the weddings. While each wedding varies in what is expected of you financially, there are ways to cut corners.  For example, wearing the same shoes to multiple weddings you're in,  having your hair done by a friend or family member, doing your own makeup.  Splurge only on what is absolutely necessary and figure out how to budget the rest.

Keep Yourself Organized:  It's so easy to lose track of various wedding-related events going on, so that is why it is important to keep a calendar to keep you organized.  While we strongly don't recommend Katherine Heigl's calendar in the movie,  something more digital is probably better.  If you aren't a digital savvy person, buy a great day planner and start writing those events down!

Remember You: Don't forget you have a life too!  Weddings aren't the only thing going on in your life,  you have a job, a home, expenses of your own.  It's important to carve out time for yourself in the midst of the madness that is weddings.
